Delete your Christian Match Nigeria account

This page is for users of the Christian Match Nigeria mobile app and website. You can permanently delete your account and associated personal data using the steps below.

How to request account deletion

1. Preferred — delete in the app or on the website
   1. Sign in to Christian Match Nigeria (mobile app or website).
   2. Open Safety & privacy (app: Settings → Safety & privacy; website: Profile → Safety & privacy).
   3. Choose Delete account / Delete my account.
   4. Confirm with your password (or type DELETE if you signed in with Google/Apple and have no password).
   Deletion starts immediately and cannot be undone.
2. Or — request by email

   If you cannot access the app, email support@christianmatch.com.ng from the email address on your account.

   Include:

   • The subject line: Delete my Christian Match Nigeria account
   • Your account email and username (if you have one)
   • A clear request to delete your account and associated data

   We aim to complete email requests within 30 days after we verify account ownership.

What we delete

When your account is deleted, we remove or permanently erase:

• Your account credentials and profile (email, phone, username, display name, bio, faith details, preferences)
• Profile photos and uploaded media stored for your account
• Location / GPS place labels saved on your profile
• Matches, swipes, direct messages, and related chat history tied to your account
• Verification submissions and live verification media for your account
• Device push tokens and in-app notification records for your account
• Blocks, reports you filed (as reporter identity), and similar safety links to your user id

What may be retained (and for how long)

Some limited information may be kept only where needed for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or payment/dispute records:

• Payment / subscription receipts from Apple, Google, or Paystack — retained as required by the payment provider and applicable tax/accounting rules (typically up to several years). We do not store full card numbers.
• Security and abuse logs (e.g. rate-limit or fraud signals) — may be kept in anonymized or minimized form for a limited period (generally up to 12 months) to protect the community.
• Legal holds — if we are legally required to retain specific records, we keep only what the law requires, then delete or anonymize it when that obligation ends.

After deletion, your profile is no longer visible to other members and cannot be recovered.

Delete some data without closing your account

Yes — you can remove or reduce data while keeping your account:

• Delete individual profile photos from your profile / gallery (app or website)
• Edit or clear profile text fields (bio, prompts, and similar details)
• Turn off Discover visibility and last-seen in Safety & privacy (app or website)
• Turn off marketing emails in notification settings
• Download a copy of your data from Safety & privacy → Download my data
• Unmatch, block, or leave chats to remove ongoing connections

These controls do not delete your entire account. Use Delete account (above) for full erasure.
